Are you looking for a way to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles, or even the deeper lines around your mouth and nose? Perhaps you would like your cheeks to look fuller or your skin more healthy and hydrated?
Dermal fillers may well be the right treatment for you. They use hyaluronic acid, a gel-like water-holding fluid that occurs naturally in the human body, to attract and retain moisture and subtly plump up your skin for a rejuvenated, healthy glow.
You should be able to see the results immediately after your dermal fillers treatment, and they typically last for six to nine months.

The pictures below show real patients before and after their Juvederm® dermal filler treatments.
How do dermal fillers work?
Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like water-holding fluid that occurs naturally in all mammals to cushion the joints and nerves, hydrate skin and hair, and fill the eyes. From our 20s onwards, our natural stores and production of hyaluronic acid begin to deplete, which can cause the skin to lose some of the volume that we associate with youth. Other factors can affect your skin too, such as genetics, lifestyle, sun damage and diet.
With dermal fillers, we are able to add hyaluronic acid back into the layers beneath your skin to attract and retain moisture and add volume. This helps your skin look beautifully hydrated and refreshed, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles and restoring volume to deep folds such as marionette lines and nasolabial folds.
What can dermal fillers be used to treat?
Dermal fillers are ideal for use around the nose, mouth, lips, and cheeks. We can inject small amounts of dermal fillers into strategic points around your face to enhance the volume and symmetry.
What should I expect from the treatment?
We will apply a small amount of anaesthetic cream to the treatment area to help ensure your comfort throughout the treatment. Juvederm® dermal fillers also contain a local anaesthetic called Lidocaine to minimise any pain.
Using a thin needle, we will inject the dermal fillers into carefully targeted areas of your face, depending on the results we want to achieve. You may need several injections but we will discuss this with you beforehand.
You should be able to see the results of your treatment immediately, although you may need to wait for slight redness or swelling to subside to fully appreciate the enhanced you. Dermal filler treatments typically last for six to nine months, after which they breakdown and are absorbed by your body. You may decide to book a top-up treatment before the fillers wear off.
Are Juvederm® dermal fillers safe?
Juvederm® dermal fillers are a leading brand produced by Allergan. They are FDA-approved and have an outstanding safety record, especially when used by experienced aesthetic practitioners.
The most common side effects are mild to moderate and include slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site, but these effects usually resolve themselves within a week. Twelve hours after your treatment, you can cover up any discolouration with make-up.
What do I need to do after my dermal fillers treatment?
We will give you clear aftercare instructions when you attend the clinic for a treatment that uses dermal fillers. We will probably advise you not to wear make-up for up to 12 hours. You should also avoid direct sunlight, saunas and steam rooms for two weeks after your treatment.
You may experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites immediate after the procedure, and it is recommended that you avoid additional treatments in the same area for the next seven days.
Are dermal fillers right for me?
Before you commit to any treatment at the Cotswold Face and Body Clinic, we will invite you to come in for a one-to-one free initial consultation with our Clinic Director, Emma Beddow. Emma has spent more than 11 years in the cosmetic surgery and facial aesthetics industry and offers a hand-holding service where she will take the time to listen to how you feel about your appearance, and advise and recommend the right medical expert for your requirements.
Only by spending some time with you can we help you determine whether dermal fillers would be your best treatment option. You are welcome to ask as many questions as you like at any stage in your treatment journey. We may recommend another treatment if there’s one that we believe would give you a better outcome for your individual case; we may even advise you against treatment if we feel it’s in your best interests. At all times, we will give an honest and transparent assessment that puts your needs first.
