Laser Hair Removal

Are you tired of shaving, waxing, threading or epilating unwanted hair? Perhaps you have painful in-growing hairs and want a kinder hair removal solution? Do you have areas of hair that make you feel self-conscious or even embarrassed?

If you’re looking for a way to permanently reduce your hair growth and give you smooth, hair-free skin without the risk of in-growing hairs or ‘beard bumps’, then laser hair removal may be your ideal treatment. Laser hair removal targets hair follicles in their active growth stage, damaging them to permanently restrict their ability to grow new hair. After a series of treatments, you may find your hair regrowth is reduced by a significant amount and leaving you virtually hair free.

Our aim is to offer you the very latest offerings in aesthetic beauty, even those not yet discovered by other clinics. Striking another first, we are the first and only practice in the UK to offer the new high-tech Lutronic CLARITY range of treatments, including laser hair removal. Its innovative dual wavelength design means that we can offer pain-free and effective hair removal for all skin types and tones with no downtime.

FAQs

  • How does laser hair removal work?

During laser hair removal, the laser targets the coloured pigment in a hair follicle and shaft. The light from the laser is absorbed by this pigment and the energy converts to heat, which damages the hair follicle so that it is no longer able to produce hairs. Using a handheld laser hair removal device, we are able to treat hundreds of hair follicles at a time, removing hair from anywhere on the body.

Laser hair removal is only able to target the hair follicles that are in their active growth (anagen) phase, which means that any follicles that are dormant will continue to grow hair as usual once they enter their active phase. This is why we may need to carry out several treatments to laser as many active hair follicles as possible, and give you the best long-term reduction in hair growth.

  • What laser hair removal system does the Cotswold Face and Body Clinic use?

We are the first clinic in the UK to use the cutting-edge Lutronic CLARITY system, which offers an incredibly gentle and comfortable laser hair removal experience. The treatment is fast, effective, easy to use, and safe, offering outstanding performance and patient satisfaction.

All CLARITY treatments come with proven results and are carried out in the state-of-the-art treatment rooms by our team of experienced aesthetic practitioners.

  • Why Lutronic CLARITY?

Lutronic CLARITY is actually two lasers in one, as its dual wavelength laser platform combines the fastest and most powerful 755 nm Alexandrite laser (ideal for hair removal on light skin) with the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser (ideal for hair removal on dark skin). This means that we are able to provide laser hair removal for as many people as possible.

Lutronic CLARITY uses a patented built-in Intelligent Cooling DeviceTM to counteract the heat from the laser. This, combined with the quick pulse of the laser, minimises redness and discomfort, meaning there’s no downtime following your treatment. The system also offers a high repetition rate and a choice of nine spot sizes ranging up to 20mm to allow us to permanently reduce your unwanted hair with unprecedented speed.

We also feel that the consistency of the Lutronic CLARITY system gives more predictable outcomes, which is great for our confidence and yours.

  • What areas can laser hair removal be used to treat?

The Lutronic CLARITY is a powerful laser with a range of nine spot sizes. This means that it is incredibly effective for hair removal on larger areas of the body, such as your legs, back or chest, or even full body laser hair removal. The smaller spot sizes are suitable for areas such as the bikini line, beard, sideburns, upper lip, and full facial hair removal.

  • What should I expect from the treatment?

During your laser hair removal treatment, we use a handheld device to deliver super-fast bursts of light from the laser to the area or areas you want us to treat. If we are removing hair on your legs or back, for example, we will use a larger spot size to enable us to cover more hairs with each pulse. Thanks to the innovative cooling system, you shouldn’t feel any pain during your treatment, although the area may feel warm.

The length of your treatment and the number of laser hair removal sessions needed will depend on the size of the area to be treated. As a rough guide, a full leg takes approximately 20 minutes.

  • Is laser hair removal safe?

Laser hair removal has an exceptional safety record, and the Lutronic CLARITY is viewed as one of the best laser hair removal systems currently available anywhere in the world. You may experience slight redness or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically resolves within a few hours. On very rare occasions, particularly in inexperienced hands, people have reported blistering or burning but our skilled and experienced laser technician has never had any such problems.

  • What do I need to do after my laser hair removal treatment?

We will give you clear aftercare instructions when you attend the clinic for laser hair removal, although it’s a procedure that requires no downtime. You may just need to limit your sun exposure after your treatment but we will discuss this with you at your consultation.

  • Is laser hair removal right for me?

Many people feel that laser hair removal has set them free from the almost daily grind of shaving, or the problems associated with waxing, especially painful in-growing hairs. If you’re looking for a long-term way to reduce your hair growth and boost your body confidence, then laser hair removal is ideal.

You are welcome to come into the Cotswold Face and Body Clinic for a free one-to-one consultation so that you can ask questions and get a clear appreciation of how laser hair removal could help. This is also a great opportunity to discuss the fees and number of treatment sessions you would need.
