Lip Fillers

Would you like your lips to look fuller, plumper or more clearly defined? Perhaps you’d like to improve the symmetry of your smile or add volume to smooth away the fine lines bleeding into your lips?

At the Cotswold Face and Body Clinic, we use Juvederm® lip fillers to subtly reshape and redefine your lips for a rejuvenated, fresher look.

Juvederm®’s fillers have been specially developed as a smooth gel that gives your lips a soft, natural feel. The gel fills in the fine lines and wrinkles in your lips, making them appear fuller and better defined, while the hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture.

We always aim to give you a treatment that looks natural and enhances your innate beauty.

FAQs

  • How do lip fillers work?

Juvederm® lip fillers are a type of dermal filler specially formulated to be smoother and more suitable for the lip area. The fillers use hyaluronic acid, which is a gel-like water-holding fluid that occurs naturally in all mammals to cushion the joints and nerves, hydrate skin and hair, and fill the eyes. Over time, our natural stores and production of hyaluronic acid begin to deplete, which can cause the skin to lose some of the roundness and volume associated with youth.

Lip fillers and dermal fillers add hyaluronic acid back into the layers beneath your skin to attract and retain moisture and add volume. In turn, this helps your skin look beautifully hydrated, fuller and refreshed.

With lip fillers, we can make your lips look plumper, smooth away vertical ‘smokers’ lines’ around your lips, better define the Cupid’s bow, add symmetry, and subtly lift the corners of your mouth to rejuvenate your smile.

  • What can lip fillers be used to treat?

We use special lip fillers such as Juvederm® Smile because they have been specially designed for use in and around your lips. Other Juvederm® dermal fillers may be more suitable for the deep lines around your nose and mouth, or for enhancing your cheeks and under-eye area.

  • What should I expect from the treatment?

As your lips are sensitive, we will apply a small amount of anaesthetic cream to the treatment area to help ensure your comfort throughout the treatment. Juvederm® lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic called Lidocaine to minimise any pain.

Using a thin needle, we will inject the lip fillers into carefully targeted areas in and around your lips, depending on the results we want to achieve. You may need several injections but we will discuss this with you beforehand.

  • Are Juvederm® lip fillers safe?

Juvederm® lip fillers have an excellent reputation and safety record; they are FDA-approved and created by Allergan.

The most common side effects are mild to moderate and include slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site, but these effects usually resolve themselves within a week. Twelve hours after your treatment, you can cover up any discolouration with make-up.

  • What do I need to do after my lip fillers treatment?

We will give you clear aftercare instructions when you attend the clinic for a treatment that uses lip fillers. We may advise you not to wear make-up for up to 12 hours. You should also avoid direct sunlight, saunas and steam rooms for two weeks post-treatment.

You may experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites immediately after your treatments, and it is recommended that you avoid additional procedures in the treated area for the next seven days.

  • Are lip fillers right for me?

Before you commit to any treatment, we will ask you to come into the clinic for a one-to-one free initial consultation with our Clinic Director, Emma Beddow. Emma has spent more than 11 years in the cosmetic surgery and facial aesthetics industry and offers a hand-holding service where she will take the time to listen to how you feel about your appearance – especially your lips - or any other issues, and advise and recommend the right medical expert for your requirements.

Only by spending some time with you can we help you determine whether lip fillers would be your best treatment option. We may recommend another treatment if there’s one that we believe would give you a better outcome for your individual case; we may even advise you against treatment if we feel it’s in your best interests. At all times, we will give an honest and transparent assessment that puts your needs first.
